New Projects
A new documentary, music, 10 minute plays, stuff.....
I am in a phase where I am trying to create and understand new ideas and projects. I have screened my Documentary The Murals across the country, and have limited places to screen now. I have a whole presentation with a short talk and some soundtrack examples I can play live.
I have been working on this idea about the first star on the Chicago Flag, Fort Dearborn the last year. I am interested in the Battle of Fort Dearborn and why it happened. How both sides of the story, the European White Settlers and the Native Americans misunderstood each other. This led to this devastating incident in Chicago History that many don’t even know about.
I have been shocked again by the things that interconnect with each other in history and in my own life sometimes. I think the lessons of this incident can teach us something today in this environment of uncertainty and hubris.
I have been writing a a lot. Trying to get my ideas in forms I can share with other people. I am trying to get out of the hamster wheel of working to fund my own projects, and meet some other folks. Hopefully that will help meeting other folks to get a budget going for these projects.
I have a few short 10 minute plays and some longer ideas I have written, including 2 songs and a scene for a musical. That seems very ambitious. Because I love doing music and writing songs, I am working on ideas for a few music videos that go with some songs I have written the last two years. It is a crapshoot these days to get anyone to listen with so much out there, but it can be said of film too.
