I try to keep busy and get out and perform and do production. As a performer or artist, one needs to keep the saw sharp. I wrote and performed a solo show for the first time ever!
I secured a slot at Yippiefest. (really look up what a yippie is….) Yippiefest is put on by folks before my time…..who were really anti-establishment and radical artists. They have gotten old and softer now, but they welcome anything….and if you didn't’ like the artists…you had to admire the chutzpa…
I called the show “Levels of Abstraction”. It is an idea I am working on expanding. Levels of abstraction is a solo show about how people see you, and how you see yourself. How do you fit into your community, and are you really seen?
This idea actually can go so many ways. This performance centered on my observation that I am becoming one of those random people you see in the city for years. You don’t know them, but they are characters in the story of your life, because you have seen them for 15 years regularly on your life in the city. I even sang a song!
I had a lat slot on the last night, but the good thing is that there were improv groups in front and behind me and they had to be there!
